A force spokesman said: “During November and December the town centre of Worksop attracts a large number of shoppers.

“With more members of public in the town centre, we traditionally see an increase in shop thefts, purse thefts, vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour.

“The operation is aimed at tackling these offences and providing reassurance to the public during this busy period in the run-up to Christmas.”
