Sign of the times in Morton village

VISITORS to Morton are getting a brighter welcome thanks to a new village sign.

The vibrant crest - a collaboration between Morton Trentside School, Morton Art Club and Morton Parish Council - depicts a number of local landmarks.

They include St Paul’s Church, the Crooked Billet Pub, the Village hall and the Ship Inn.

And of course the scene would not be complete without the Morton Bend section of the River Trent, weaving through carrying a Viking dragon ship.

Parish Council chairman Coun John Parry said: “It has been a real community collaboration. The school children did a lot of the work, coming up with ideas.”

“We are really pleased with the result and have had some nice feedback.”
