Shopping centre and Spar for Corringham Rd

CONSTRUCTION work on a new Spar and shopping centre on Corringham Road in Gainsborough is due to start in March.

The Sturton-by-Stow based Tillbridge Developments construction company was first given the go ahead for the development back in July 2010.

As well as a 4,000 square foot Spar convenience store, there will also be a number of other 1,200 sq ft units for businesses, as well as car parking spaces, new footpaths and cycle racks.

Tillbridge Developments say that the site, which is on land behind an area earmarked for at least 250 new homes in the future, will add at least 20 new jobs to the local economy without being a threat to other retail-related jobs in the town centre.

Tillbridge director Giles Walter said: “I hope that we will be starting construction in March, and the Gelder Group will take about 22 months to complete the work.”

“Once open, the development will provide a number of full and part-time jobs for people on the community.”

He continued: “It will create an amenity hub for people from around the area and will be a gateway to the new nearby residential area.”

Thonock and Somerby Estates are still pending planning permission for the 250 new homes to be built on Corringham Road, and are currently in negotiations with West Lindsey District Council.
