Shoplifter facing jail

A CLOWNE woman serving a suspended jail sentence could be locked up following another offence of shoplifting.

Natasha Thorley, 25, of Westlea, was caught stealing £37.50 of clothing from Primark in Chesterfield on 5th October. She was subject to a ten-week suspended jail term at the time, for previous offences of dishonesty.

Thorley admitted theft. The court heard she was already on a probation supervision order, including an alcohol treatment programme.

Probation officer Katie Shannon said Thorley had cut down on drinking and had also sought help for a drug problem. She was prescribed methadone and hoped to attend a rehabilitation clinic.

Sentencing was adjourned until 22nd December for a probation service report.
