Shooting event and fashion show raises £10,000 for Safe@Last

A LOCAL children’s charity Safe@Last has benefited from two fundraising events held at the stately home of Lord and Lady Scarbrough.

The Safe@Last Annual Clay Shoot Trophy returned to Sandback Park near Maltby on the Saturday, while a fashion show followed on the Sunday.

It is hoped the weekend will have raised more than £10,000 for the Dinnington-based charity which helps young homeless children across South Yorkshire.

Safe@Last founder trustee Hilary Massarella said: “We’ve had a fantastic weekend and are very grateful to the Earl and Countess of Scarbrough for generously hosting these events at their beautiful home.”

“The rain showers didn’t detract from two great days of entertainment and the fantastic amount raised will help us to continue to support children and young people across South Yorkshire”

As well as taking part in the shooting, guests also had the chance to take part in archery, welly wanging and sport air rifles. The team trophy was successfully defended by current champions Junction 3.

Lord Scarbrough, patron of Safe@Last said “My wife and I are always pleased to support Safe@Last and young runaways by hosting such well organised and diverse events. We were particularly thrilled to welcome new guests to both events as well as some familiar faces. We hope that, like us, all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and will spread the word about what a sterling job Safe@Last does in order to keep children safe”

The ladies event on the Sunday featured a fashion show and afternoon tea. It was organised by the Doncaster St. Leger Inner Wheel Club which has chosen Safe@Last as its special charity during the year. Guests enjoyed a catwalk show featuring the clothes and accessories of Yasmine of Bawtry, followed by afternoon tea on the lawn.
