Shirebrook pair get lifetime dog ban

A Shirebrook man and woman have been banned from keeping dogs for life after they were found guilty of animal cruelty charges.

Keith Chapman, 37, and Karina Chapman, 25, both of Olive Avenue, were also ordered to pay £250 in costs each plus a £60 victim surcharge each after being convicted of causing their dogs, Phoenix and Oreo, to suffer unnecessarily at an earlier hearing.

Karina Chapman was also given a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and Keith Chapman was given a curfew order from 7pm to 7am which will run alongside a previous order.

The dogs were found in October following a tip-off. German shepherd Phoenix and terrier Oreo had fur loss, fleas and flea allergies that had caused sores.
