Sheffield Wednesday: Owls star makes Hunt claim

Jack Hunt is the best right-sided full-back in the Championship, according to his Owls teammate Barry Bannan.

The 25-year-old completed his permanent switch to Hillsborough a fortnight ago, penning a three-and-a-half-year deal following a productive loan spell.

Wednesday snapped up Hunt from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee, with the defender having never made a competitive appearance for the Eagles.

Since joining the Owls, Hunt has clocked up 24 appearances in all competitions and midfield playmaker Bannan claims his trademark runs from deep have added an extra dimension to their forward line.

The 26-year-old, hoping to earn a Scotland recall, told The Star: “I knew Hunty before I came here as we were both at Crystal Palace together.

“I’m happy for Hunty that he is staying here. We are good mates and it is nice to see people like Hunty signing as you know you are going to have a real good go (for promotion).

“He is a top full-back and has been brilliant for the club this season. I would say he’s the best in the league.

“He is a modern day full-back. He likes to get forward and gets a lot of assists as well.

“He is like a winger. He just doesn’t stop and gives us that outlet out wide.

“The way we play is perfect for Hunty as we have got Ross Wallace out there who has struck up a great partnership with him.”
