More than 2,000 Wednesdayites saw Carlos Carvalhal’s men clinch their place in the Championship Play-Off Final at Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday. It finished one apiece, meaning the Owls triumphed in their two-legged Semi-Final 3-1 on aggregate.

Wednesday will meet Hull City in the final on Saturday, May 28, after the Tigers beat Derby County 3-2 on aggregate last night,

“There is a big bond between the fans and the club. It has grown a lot this year,” admitted Loovens. “It shows us that we have to perform as a team.

“They need us but we need them as well. That was the case at Brighton and also across the whole season.

“I look at the away end at every game and it shows the desire everyone has to get promoted. Everytone is striving for it. Let’s do it, not just for us but them as well.”

Loovens was pleased to celebrate their achievement with the fans after the referee had blown the final whistle.

“Those fans have been there for us all season, home and away,” he said. “It was good to celebrate it with the fans who took the time and effort to come down here. I am glad for them that we did it.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday have been allocated 38,889 tickets for the West End at Wembley.
