Sheffield Wednesday: Owls look to avoid slip-up

Two of Wednesday’s most recent Championship losses have come away to relegation-threatened Charlton Athletic and MK Dons.

And Loovens has told The Star: “We have to learn from our mistakes if we want to push for promotion.

“We have lost twice to teams around the bottom of the table so we have to make sure it doesn’t happen a third time.

“Bolton are down there and need to win to get out of trouble. Sometimes these games are the hardest.

“Look at Charlton and MK Dons. Everybody expected us to win those games but we didn’t. We lost to them both so it just shows you can’t take anything for granted.”

The Dutchman has confirmed he has held discussions over prolonging his Owls stay. His deal expires in the summer.

“I have had a few talks with the boss,” he said. “Hopefully we will get something sorted. It is still early doors but I think all the signs are there.

“We have a good team and a good group of players and I have enjoyed my time here.”
