Sheffield Wednesday: Owls chief Carlos Carvalhal fined £2,000 after accepting Football Association improper conduct charge

Carvalhal was banished from the dugout by referee Lee Probert in Saturday’s defeat at Aston Villa after reacting angrily to Vincent Sasso’s second half red card.

The former Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas chief was left fuming over French defender Sasso being given his marching orders for a tackle on Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane and was sent to the stands for leaving his technical area.

But Carvalhal, whose team entertain play-off rivals Reading tomorrow night, has not been given a touchline ban for the offence.

A FA statement read: “Carlos Carvalhal has been fined £2,000 after he admitted an FA misconduct charge and accepted the standard penalty.

“The Sheffield Wednesday manager’s behaviour in or around the 48th minute of the game against Aston Villa on 11 March 2017 amounted to improper conduct.”

Sasso begins his three-match suspension tomorrow, but Tom Lees (knee) and Glenn Loovens (hip/back) are available for selection.
