The winger, who has been away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, has failed to shine since arriving on loan from Everton, netting once in eight outings.

In the Owls’ last fixture, McGeady was sacrificed half-time against Charlton Athletic in a tactical rejig by boss Carlos Carvalhal But Ross Wallace is tipping his former Celtic teammate to sparkle at the business end of the season.

“Aiden came to us with not a lot of games under his belt,” he said. “It was the same when Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri joined us. They took some games to get going.

“Aiden played really well at Forest and got his goal. He would have been disappointed to be taken off against Charlton. But, if I know Aiden, he will comeback stronger and be fighting to get in the team on Saturday.

“Everyone knows Aiden has got quality and will come good. There will be times in the last eight matches when he will win us a match just with a bit of magic.”
