The 31-year-old was expected to pen a new one-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

But Price, who made just seven appearances in Owls colours last season after falling behind Keiren Westwood and Joe Wildsmith in the pecking order, is believed to now be in talks with Wednesday’s South Yorkshire neighbours.

As long as there are no complications, a deal could be completed early next week.

Price started his career at Ipswich Town, making 75 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

The former Welsh international has also previously represented Cambridge (loan), Derby County, MK Dons (loan), Luton Town (loan), Brentford (loan), Crystal Palace, Mansfield (loan) and Crawley Town (loan).
