It has been a mixed start to the season for Wednesday, with Carlos Carvalhal’s side picking up four points from their clashes against newly-relegated Aston Villa and Norwich City.

But that positive beginning has been undone over the last week with losses to league new boys Burton Albion and Leeds United.

Hunt has described Wednesday’s performance in Saturday’s Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough as “terrible” and wants the team to use that pain as motivation.

“We were terrible; individually and collectively we weren’t good enough,” he told The Star. “We can’t shy away from that.

“We have got to stand up and go toe to toe with the opposition. We know we have got to do better.

“Leeds was a tough one to take and the easy thing to do would be to shy away from it but we have to stand up and be counted for and take it on the chin.

“We have to use the last two results as motivation. We have to use the hurt from the Burton and Leeds games and go again at Brentford.”

The attacking right-back was critical of his own display against Leeds, saying: “I was very frustrated with my own performance. I thought I didn’t really get into the game.

“When you are don’t perform as an individual, you want to go again straight away and put things right.”

Meanwhile, Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher have been named in Scotland’s squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifier away to Malta. Midfielder Bannan and striker Fletcher will be seeking to add to their 21 and 28 caps respectively when the Scots take on Malta at the Ta’Qali Stadium on Sunday, September 4.
