Sheffield Wednesday: Dejphon Chansiri calls on Owls fans to get behind '˜truly unique' fun day

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri is urging Wednesdayites to come out in their numbers for the Championship club's annual fun day Owls in the Park.

Around 15,000 are expected to flock to Hillsborough Park for the event, which runs from 11.00am to 5.30pm tomorrow.

The fun day features a raft of attractions, including a medieval re-enactment, the county’s biggest dog show, craft stalls, animal displays and dance performances featuring local groups.

Supporters will also have a chance to meet and have their pictures taken with Chansiri, boss Carlos Carvalhal and the team’s players.

Thai businessman Chansiri told The Star: “Owls in the Park is truly unique not only in football but the whole sporting world and as chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, it gives me enormous pride to see our club host this event, which is in the diary of thousands and thousands of our supporters.

“We all look forward to seeing as many of them as possible inside Hillsborough Park on Sunday.”

There will also be for the first time a large artificial beach set-up for the event, organised in conjunction with the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme and Sheffield City Council and Hallam FM, where people can go to soak up the sun.

A fully licensed bar will be available on the day as well as a whole range of food and drink stalls.

A host of charities, including Support Dogs, Bluebell Wood, St. Luke’s Hospice and The Royal Society for the Blind, will also be holding stalls and activities to raise money and awareness.

“It gets better and better and this year we are hoping for the best event yet, with more activities and entertainment planned than ever before.”
