The Owls, dumped out of the EFL Cup by League Two side Cambridge United in midweek, return to league duty on Saturday when they travel to promotion hopefuls Norwich City.

Pudil is expected to be recalled to the starting line-up at Carrow Road, having been rested against the U’s. Several of the left back’s senior teammates were also left out, including Keiren Westwood, Tom Lees, Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri, who has been the subject of a £7m bid from Derby County this week.

The Czech Republic international told The Star: “I said before the (Villa) game let’s win the first game and then maybe take a point away at Norwich and that would be a nice start for us. Last season, we had problems after 10 games we had eight or nine points and that wasn’t enough so hopefully we can have a better start and we will do our best to achieve something like we did last season.”

Wednesday, who are closing in on Aston Villa defender Joe Bennett, will now visit Huddersfield Town on Sunday, October 16, kick-off 12pm, after the Yorkshire derby was selected for live television coverage. The fixture was meant to take place the day before.
