And the Portuguese praised the help from Wednesday’s British coaches for ensuring a painless transition for him during his short time in the country.
“We have adapted very well because I have good assistant coaches who help me and my Portuguese staff,” Carvalhal said. “Staff like Lee Bullen, Andy Kalinins, Andy Rhodes, Joseph Simmonds and Jeremy Poulson.
“They give me information all the time that is important.”

Hide AdCarvalhal and his fellow Portuguese on the coaching staff are no strangers to coaching abroad having worked in Greece, Turkey and Dubai.
And he says his prior experiences meant he was never fazed by being a newcomer to English football.
He said: “I think we adapt very, very fast.
“We have got experience of playing in different countries and environments which helps.
“Experience is nothing if you don’t learn from the past.
“We learned very fast from the information we collected and the way we have seen everything.
“We completely 100 per cent understand the competition and how the coaches, players, referees and fans act.
“We are completely integrated into the football and the country as well.”
