Sheffield United: Former Blades midfielder wants to prove his Bramall Lane critics wrong
The former Scunthorpe and Millwall midfielder failed to impress during a 12 month spell at Bramall Lane before joining League One rivals Fleetwood Town last week.
Admitting his time in South Yorkshire had proved a bitter disappointment, Woolford said: “I’m joining the club on the back of a bad spell and I can’t wait to get back on the field and start to prove people wrong.

Hide Ad“The talks I had with (Fleetwood manager) Uwe Rosler made me hugely excited, it’s flattering when a manager like that wants you.
“It’s a fresh start for me now and a chance to play games and really make a mark here.”
Woolford was signed by Nigel Adkins before being placed on the transfer list by the 51-year-old’s replacement Chris Wilder in May. United released him from his contract after learning of Rosler’s interest. They are scheduled to visit Highbury on Saturday 1 October.
“I’m hugely excited by the project at Fleetwood Town, it’s clearly a club who have big plans for the future,” Woolford added. “I spoke to the Uwe Rosler and the technical director and to be honest I was hugely surprised by everything they had to say. It was really, really good.

“The training ground there was hugely impressive and the whole feel of the club made it one I wanted to be part of of. I can’t wait to get going now.”
