Sheffield Steelers pair set for farewell

Sheffield Steelers will stage a budget meeting on Thursday that will underpin their spending strategy for next season.

With a fair amount of the team re-signed for next year, the emphasis will be on the import slots to be filled.

Teams will be allowed 14 including EU nationals.

I believe that the club will bid farewell to two Europeans, in Conny Stromberg and goalie Marek Pinc.

Question marks remain over Fredrick Vestberg (family issues), Colton Fretter (who missed much of the last campaign with injury) and Cullen Eddy (rumoured to be considering retirement). Rod Sarich, at 35, also has a decision to make, and there is no word yet on 18-year-pro Russ Moyer.

The majority of Steelers fans would like to see Levi Nelson back. He finished the season as second-top points-scorer.

Steelers need to boost their British contingent after the retirement of Jason Hewitt.

Coach Paul Thompson collected the EIHL Coach of the Year award at the Play-off Finals.
