Work mates at CINCH Connectors in Worksop gathered round to wish hard working colleague Wendy Gourlay a happy retirement.
Wendy, 61, from Creswell is hanging up her overalls after nearly four decades service at the company.
She started out as a moulding operator but moved on to work on the assembly line on the shop floor at the factory, which is based on Shireoaks Road.
“I have seen people come and I have seen people go at this place,” said Wendy.
“They are brilliant people and it’s a great place to work.”
And her colleagues clearly think a lot of her too.
For her last day, they bought her a brand new sewing machine and set up stand called ‘Wendy’s Workshop’.
“I do alterations for all the girls I work with,” explained Wendy.
“It’s a hobby really.”
A night out at the Lion Hotel in Bridge Street followed, where Wendy was able to reminisce with colleagues about old times and say her fond farewells.
Now she is looking forward to having time to herself but admits it will be hard to change her routine after so long.
“Retirement is a bit of a shock to the system,” she said.
“I’m so used to getting up at 5.30am and now I don’t know what to do with myself.”
That’s where her new sewing machine will come in handy.
