Severe weather warning of rain in the East Midlands: Sunday June 12

A severe weather warning has been issued for the East Midlands today.

A yellow warning for heavy rain has been made valid from 11am-9pm.

Scattered slow-moving heavy, thundery downpours are likely to develop across the area on Sunday. The showers and thunderstorms should ease from the west in the evening.

Although some places will miss the worst of the downpours, please be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding and possible disruption to travel.

Today it will be brightest early on, with intermittent rain edging east and tending to become heavier and more showery, leaving a general risk of slow-moving heavy, and probably thundery showers for the afternoon and evening. Light winds. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.

A cloudy night is in prospect with showers or patchy rain affecting most places. Winds remaining on the light side. Minimum Temperature 13 °C.

Monday will start dull with rain in places, mostly light. Turning drier for the afternoon with some brightness in places, but heavy, thundery showers developing, mainly away from coasts. Maximum Temperature 19
