Six men and a woman have been arrested after police carried out drug raids at five homes in South Yorkshire.

Four raids were carried out in Maltby and one in Tickhill on the morning of Friday, December 4.

Police say the planned raids are part of a ‘ongoing operation’ to disrupt criminal activity and tackle crime in the areas.

From the properties in Maltby, three men, two aged 29-years-old and one aged 27-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply heroin and for failing to appear at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court.

A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, possession of cannabis and possession of amphetamine and a 43-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply heroin.

From the property in Tickhill, a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and possession of amphetamine after drugs and a large quantity of cash were recovered from the address.

Detective Sergeant Iain Martin said: “I’m pleased with the results and I hope it sends out a very clear message that we will not tolerate criminal activity.

“We will continue to run operations like this and I hope the results from Friday offer some form of reassurance to the local communities that we are determined to reduce crime and bring those who are involved in criminality to justice.”
