Tuesday, 27th November 2012, 4:50 pm

Retford & District Scout Association is launching the Scout Christmas Post 2012 on Thursday 29th November.

They are asking for support from local residents to buy their stamps and post their local Christmas cards with them.

The areas covered are Retford, Ordsall, Tuxford, East and West Markham, Askham, Elkesley, Clarborough, Hayton, Welham, North and South Leverton.

Stamps cost just 30p each and all profits will go back into support local scouting.

The law requires that they can only take seasonal greetings cards. No enclosures or parcels can be accepted. And cards will only be delivered to the advertised areas.

Christmas Post stamps go on sale on Thursday 29th November in various outlets in Retford and surrounding villages including Bookworm on Spa Lane, Cardys Butchers on Bridgegate, Londis on Wesley Road/Spital Hill corner and Rymanson Carolgate. Buy your stamps and post your cards at each of these shops.

In Tuxford, Halls Newsagents and others will be selling stamps.

7th Retford (St Swithun’s) Scout Group will also be selling stamps outside St Swithuns Church on Saturday 1st December and will have a stall on Retford Market on Saturday 8th December.

The last day of posting will be on Sunday 16th December and cards will be delivered between 16th and 24th December by a group of volunteers.
