Scouting is on the up

NOTTS scouts groups are celebrating their highest amount of members ever.

They boasted the second highest growth in the UK in 2011, attracting an extra 700 members.

The county’s scout group council has also been given a £15,000 grant from Notts County Council to support local groups to recruit and retain members.

Cabinet Member for Children and Young People coun Philip Owen said: “Scouting offers children and young people a wide range of activities which are good fun, promote health and fitness, and develop skills for future employment opportunities.”
