School wins Olympic tickets

PUPILS at Ramsden Primary are celebrating after they were presented with tickets to the Olympic Games.

The Bassetlaw torch relay event gave young people the opportunity to participate in the build up to the Olympics.

The torch relay was managed by Worksop Harriers and every school received the Bassetlaw Torch at some point between February and June.

Bassetlaw MP John Mann has celebrated the pupils involvement by a running competition for the best picture of the torch being welcomed at Bassetlaw schools.

Many schools participated in the competition and two schools who submitted the winning pictures have won tickets for children to attend the handball games that are being held at the Olympic Park on August 1st.

First prize winners are Clarborough School and runners up are Ramsden School in Langold.

The tickets have been supplied by the youth access to sport charity, Street Games, and Mr Mann wanted to ensure that at many local schools as possible had an opportunity to win tickets for the Olympics.
