Sarah’s Law success in second year
Sarah’s Law, also known as the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme, was introduced in April 2011.
In the last year, 35 applications were made by parents and carers who believed a child may be at risk. The concerns raised in seven of the applications were justified, resulting in those responsible for the child being informed about a person’s previous criminal history.

Superintendent Helen Chamberlain, Notts Police’s head of public protection, said: “If just one child has been kept safe as a result of the scheme, then it has been worth our time and investment.”
“These disclosures have potentially helped to protect children and that is exactly the focus of the force and our partner agencies.”
