Rural Special Constable recruitment events set to hit Worksop and Retford

Rural Special Constables are volunteer police officers who work with neighbourhood policing teams to deal with issues affectingthe district’s rural communities.

Chief Inspector Richard Stapleford, of Nottingamshire Police, said: “The role of a rural special constable is really important to the force to keep our rural areas of Bassetlaw safe so we are looking for volunteers with an interest in the countryside and rural affairs to join our team.

“We are specifically looking for people of all ages who either live and work in rural areas or simply have an interest in wildlife or rural issues.

“The role requires people who are able to commit to this style of neighbourhood policing and are looking to develop a career within the special constabulary over a number of years.”

Nottinghamshire Police will open recruitment for Rural Special Constables on Friday, July 1.

To support this process and for the opportunity to find out more about becoming a rural special, Nottinghamshire Police are hosting recruitment events in Worksop and Retford.

The first will take place on Wednesday June, 26 from 10am to 3pm at Worksop Police Station.

This will be followed by an evenet on Wednesday ,July 6 from 10am to 3pm at at Retford Town Hall.

These workshops will provide support and guidance with completing the application form and the opportunity to speak to current serving special constables.
