Rufford: Opening night of country park’s illuminations going ahead

The opening evening of this year’s Aurora Winter Illuminations will go ahead as planned tonight (Friday) at Rufford Abbey Country Park.

Staff have worked hard to ensure the park is fully operational and ready for tonight’s event following the high winds yesterday (Thursday).

The country park closed yesterday afternoon while the storm was taking place, but has reopened today following an extensive clean-up of damage.

Linda Hardy, Notts County Council’s visitor services manager at Rufford Abbey Country Park, said: “It is a tribute to everyone here for the work they have done to ensure we have recovered from the damage caused with fallen trees and other storm debris to be able to open again this morning.”

“We look forward to an exciting opening night of the Aurora Winter Illuminations.”

The illuminations take place at Rufford Abbey, near Ollerton from 5.30pm - 7pm on the following dates, and people need to book in advance.

Friday 6th to Sunday 8th December, Friday 13th to Sunday 15th December and Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd December.
