The RSPCA is appealing for information after a collapsed, sick and dehydrated dog was dumped in Doncaster.

The elderly dog was taken in to the Bawtry Animal Centre by a member of the public who found him on Kingsway, Stainforth, on Tuesday, January 13.

The brindle mastiff-type, with white patches on his chest and a greying muzzle, who was thought to be more than ten-years-old, had to be put down to end his suffering.

RSPCA Inspector John Gibson, from the Doncaster, Rotherham and District Branch, said: “He could not use his legs, was severely dehydrated, and was emaciated. He also had a kiwi-sized growth on his front right leg which could have been as a result of cancer.

“Sadly, the vet decided the only option was to end his suffering and put him to sleep.

“He had been left too long in this state and I’d like to speak to anyone who may recognise him, or who might know where he came from.”

Anybody with information should contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
