The planning inspector who led the public inquiry into the council’s core strategy has recommended the authority should make up more of the shortfall from previous years, in line with the national housing target.

This will also increase the council’s housing target from 14,000 to 17,000 over the next 15 years.

The implications of the inspector’s initial response will be discussed by the council cabinet on Wednesday, 5th February.
