Robbery appeals

A masked man carrying what appeared to be an air rifle demanded money from the cashier inside the Jet garage on Outgang Lane, Dinnington around 8.20pm on 7th October.

The money was handed over by the 23-year-old cashier, who was not injured and the man fled the Brobot-owned service station in a blue Ford C-Max car.

The offender is in his late teens, about 5ft 10in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black baseball hat, grey hooded top, dark trousers and had a dark scarf across his face.

Brobot director Eddie Bright said: “Although the site operator was not physically injured, it was a traumatic experience and one that we thoroughly condemn.”

“Our industry is suffering enough with the economic climate and this cowardly act does nothing to encourage independent business operators to provide a good public amenity.”

“Fortunately, through the quick thinking and proper reaction by the operator and experience gained from our rigorous security training, the perpetrator made off with only a small amount of cash.”

“Criminals seem to think forecourt businesses have tills overflowing with cash, but that is far from reality with 60 per cent of purchases conducted on cards and stringent procedures to keep just enough cash for change is how we operate.”

“We are confident the police will have sufficient information to make an early arrest and hopefully take this dangerous individual off the streets.”

Around 8.35pm on Friday, a man wearing a white motorcycle helmet entered M J M News and Booze, on Quarry Lane, North Anston and attempted to break into the till using a long metal bar.

When a worker inside the shop, a 49-year-old woman, raised the alarm, the offender fled the store empty handed. The man is in his late 40s and about 5ft 9in tall, wearing a white motorcycle helmet.
