Roads to close for town’s 5k

THE GAINSBOROUGH 5km run is happening this weekend part of the West Lindsey run series - and roads are set to be affected.

Starting and finishing at West Lindsey Leisure Centre, over 350 runners will be attending and taking part in the run, which is one of the biggest entry levels for local 5km Lincolnshire races this year.

On Sunday 23rd October, the roads that will be affected, although not necessarily closed the whole two hours, between 9.30am – 11.30am are: the B1433 Corringham Road from the Avenue to the Belt Road, Grange Road on both sides, Long Wood Road, Miller Road both sides, The Avenue and The Belt Road.

The main race will start at 10am from Gainsborough Leisure centre on the Avenue road.

The Golf Club have been asked to use the Little Belt Road and the junction of the A631 and Corringham Road will also be closed during the race. The lanes to turn into Corringham Road will be blocked at this junction but this will be a maximum of 50 minutes.

The Avenue will be closed until around 11.30 or until the junior race is completed. Marlow Road will be opened to allow access and egress for vehicles heading towards The Belt Road.

WLDC sport and community development officer Chris Farrell said: “I would like to thank residents in advance for your support during this time.”

“We look forward to seeing you either competing or supporting, and “I hope that this will be a positive element to Gainsborough for this year and for future years.”
