Roads closures will be place during major gas mains update in Kirton-in-Lindsey

National Grid will be renewing 300 metres of gas pipes in Grove Street and Darwin Street. The existing iron mains will be replaced with larger, tough, durable plastic pipes that will help meet rising demand for gas in the village and last at least 80 years.

To carry out the work safely, Grove Street and Darwin Street will be closed to through traffic. Every effort will be made to allow vehicle access for residents and businesses.

The road closures will be split into three phases. During phase one Grove Street will be closed from Darwin Street to Turner Street.

Diversion routes will be in place via Turner Street, Darwin Street and Grove Street and also via Ings Road, Grove Street, Darwin Street, Torksey Street and Turner Street

During phase two, Grove Street will be closed between Ings Road and Turner Street. A diversion route will be in place via Ings Road, Torksey Street and Turner Street.

Phases one and two are expected to take six weeks. The third phase of work is due to take place in Darwin Street and is expected to take three weeks.

While the work is under way, Darwin Street will need to be closed to through traffic. While Darwin Street is closed, traffic will be diverted via Grove Street, Ings Road, Torksey Street and Turner Street.

Further work in Grove Street, between Turner Street and St Andrew’s Street, is expected to take place later in May.
