Risk of flooding in South Yorkshre

THE Environment Agency is warning of the risk of surface water flooding across the region.

Heavy showers are expected in the area over the next few days, some of which will be short, short and heavy in places.

Phil Younge, regional flood manager for the Environment Agency said: “Yorkshire and the North East has experienced some severe weather over the last week, and with further rain forecast for the next few hours, we would urge the public to remain vigilant, check local weather forecasts, and the Environment Agency website for information.”

“Our thoughts are with those people whose homes and businesses have been affected by flooding. Our staff have been out working hard to provide communities with as much assistance and information as possible.”

If necessary, the Environment Agency will issue flood alerts and flood warnings. Information can be found at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/flood.
