Rhodesia: Guardian Rose for caring Sarah

From having food on the table to being able to get out and about, life would be so much more difficult for the 80-year-old.

Which is why this week’s Guardian Rose, from Walkers House of Flowers in the Priory, Worksop, has been awarded to Sarah Canning, 35, of Rhodesia.

According to her sister Julie, Sarah is the most caring person in the world and why she is worthy of such a kind gesture.

“Our dad Wilf had to have his leg amputated in April 2013 after having a blood clot in his leg,” Julie said.

“He also suffered a stroke in May 2014 so it has been tough.”

“She is always there for everybody and Wilf, she keeps spirits high.”

“She cooks his meals, fetches and carries things and goes out of the house with him.”

“She has always been a caring person.”

Since suffering his stroke, Wilf has slightly slurred speech and he has poor vision.

The presentation of the Guardian Rose reduced Sarah and Wilf to tears at their family home.

Sarah said: “ I think I am going to cry.”

“It is a lovely surprise.”

Julie added: “This always happens when we do something like this.”

“I would like to say a big thank-you for everything she has done.”
