Firefighters attended West Hill Road and surrounding areas at around 3.30pm yesterday (Saturday) following a storm which could have been a minor tornado.

Chimney stacks were blown from roofs, multiple tiles and television ariel’s were blown some distance from properties.

As well as homes, conservatories and vehicles were damaged but thankfully there are no known injuries to any persons.

A Met Office forecaster was unable to confirm that a twister had hit Retford, but added that conditions were right for spawning tornadoes.

Advice from Notts Fire is that if your chimney stack has been damaged by the storm do not use your fire as the flue may be damaged or blocked.
