Local residents said the loud music had been playing since the early hours of Sunday morning.
And photos posted on Twitter show a large gathering of people at the unidentified location.
Notts Police said the party was thought to be happening without permission of the land owner.
A spokesman said officers were patrolling the area, stopping and checking vehicles.
“We are working to minimise the disruption caused to nearby residents,” said Chief Inspector Paul Murphy.
“We have been in contact with the people on the site and are working to achieve a peaceful resolution and return to normality as soon as possible.”
Police are working to keep road disruption to a minimum, ensuring traffic is able to flow freely in the area.
