Retford: New ‘modern European’ restaurant opens doors after £750k redevelopment

The New Spencers Restaurant in Retford Market Square, on the site of the former Henry Spencer Auction house, has opened its doors to the public.

Spencer’s on the Square, Market Square, formerly The Broadstone, opened on Thursday, 30 July, after major redevelopment to restore the old Henry Spencer’s auction house to its former glory.

Matthew Ardron-Levack said: “We have put a huge amount of effort into making the venue a quality destination. The decor has been designed by award-winning designer Mark Pearce and a bespoke menu has been designed by the River Cottage team.

“This is a real top-to-toe renovation of a great Retford landmark.”
