It’s wacky, it’s fun, it’s outrageous – and it’s back and looking for local families to take part.

Sixteen years after it was last broadcast, one of the country’s favourite childhood TV shows, Fun House, is returning thanks to a family pub restaurant and children’s play centre.

The Elms Hotel on London Road in Retford has teamed up with Fun House host Pat Sharp and the twins, Melanie and Martina, to bring back the 1990s game show for just one day only.

The pub is looking for four teams to compete in the Family Fun House competition, which will take place in Staffordshire on Saturday, 13th June.

Just like the TV show, Pat Sharp and the twins will take the contestants through each round where they will go head-to-head – and this time parents can participate too.

The four lucky teams, one parent and one child from each family, will have the opportunity to win a family holiday worth £1,000 by taking part in the games, which include the gunge tank quiz and the go-karts race, with the winning team able to enter the Fun House to win even more prizes.

“It’s been a dream of mine to bring back Fun House for over a decade, so I’m over the moon that, in some shape or form, it’s finally happening,” said Pat Sharp.

“The Family Fun House day looks set to be extremely exciting and Melanie, Martina and I can’t wait to get out there and do what we do best – host Fun House.”

Graeme Cameron, general manager at the Elms Hotel, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing back Fun House.”

“It’s about time mums and dads had some fun too, and so we’re not only offering a heap of nostalgia for the parents, but also a chance for them to get messy.”

“We’re expecting lots of entries and can only choose four teams of two to take part in our Family Fun House event, so we would encourage families to shout about how wacky their family is when applying.”
