On Friday 8th August, between 10am-12noon, Retford Work Club will run a special session on writing covering and speculative letters to employers.

The event will look at the different types of covering letters and layouts, identify three key skills and qualities to include in your covering letter and learn how to tailor a speculative letter towards a specific job or employer.

Counc Diana Meale, chair of economic development committee at Notts County Council, said: “Our regular work club meetings provide valuable support to jobseekers, allowing people to share experiences and build new contacts.”

“From time-to-time we give the sessions over to special events, concentrated on a specific topic and aimed at making participants work ready.”

“From hearing from local employers about the qualities they are looking for, to how to be a more effective job hunter, these sessions provide a valuable information for people looking for a job or a change in career.”

Notts County Council runs work clubs at nine libraries throughout the county - including Worksop.

They are free to attend and give people the chance to meet others looking for work, build new contacts, share job-hunting experience, interview techniques, CVs, volunteering and training opportunities.
