After the well-attended meeting, Mr Jee, 53, from Leverton, said “I was delighted with the support, but I am now expecting a hard fight to win this seat for Labour, as I’m standing against a long-standing Tory stalwart.”

Retford East is a good place to live but I would like to push the council to do more to create apprenticeship opportunities for young adults.”

“I also want a to assist owners of some of the large empty properties in the area, such as the Mason’s Arms on Spital Hill in order to bring them back into use.”

“We must help to pick the area up, rather than dragging it down.”

Mr Jee has 15 years of service working in local authorities and continued: “I know the ropes from the inside and I have spent last half of my service working to regenerate economic activity and create jobs.”

Mr Jee added that he also fully supports speed restrictions for lorries along the whole of Tiln Lane and is glad that the Labour-led Notts County Council is currently working with the Environment Agency to move these forward as quickly as possible.
