Daniel Kerley, 32, will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Bassetlaw Hospice on 3rd July at West Retford Hotel, North Road.

The businessman, who runs his own recruitment company, has already raised over £4,000 for charity through 10k runs and a half marathon.

The Retford man lost his dad Peter to lung cancer in July 2014, aged 55, and his mum Jackie, 57, has also recently had treatment for skin cancer.

“My dad was not a smoker and he was not overweight so it was a bit of a shock,” Daniel said.

“Raising money was my way of coping, I was mad at the world and upset.”

“I wanted to give something back to the world and I knew I needed to do something.”

The fundraising event is being backed by a host of celebrity names, with entertainment on the night provided by former X Factor finalist Christopher Maloney.

Current and ex-professional footballers Kris Commons, Liam Lawrence, Julian Joachim, Scott Loach, Eric Lichaj and Gary McSheffrey have all shown their support for the event.

As has Peter Andre’s brother Michael, actor Martin Clunes, celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford, Mick Norcross from The Only Way is Essex, former X Factor contestant Lydia Lucy, Eric Clapton’s daughter Ruth, poker player Sam Tirckett, and Sam Lupton, from West End musical WICKED.

Daniel added: “My mum had a spot on her nose and we told her that it will be nothing and that it would go. We said ‘what are the chances of it being cancer’ but she got it checked and it was skin cancer.” The event will include a three-course meal, a raffle, auction and fireworks.

Tickets are £45, call Daniel on 07884589801 to purchase.
