As part of a competition involving year groups 3 to 6, pupils were asked to design a picture that depicts the services that Bassetlaw District Council provide.

And nine-year-old Holly Smith’s interpretation was picked out to be used on the front cover of this year’s booklet.

Coun Sylvia May, cabinet member for customer and support services said: “There were some fantastic submissions from the pupils of Thrumpton who did a great job and we somehow managed to narrow it down to a final five.”

“Congratulations to all the winners who received some ‘Love to Shop’ vouchers, especially Holly, whose design will be seen by thousands of Bassetlaw residents on the front cover of the booklet.”

Head Teacher of Thrumpton Primary School, Catherine Thornton, added: “As an international school, one of our priorities is being a big part of the local community and making our learning relevant to this.”

“So, as part of the competition we spoke about our place in the community and the role of the council.

The entries were fantastic and the children really grasped these ideas and produced some excellent work.”
