Reshuffle of Notts police top brass as commissioner Paddy Tipping sworn in

Incumbent PCC Paddy Tipping has been re-elected to the position and has announced changes at the top of the force's leadership.

A new Chief Constable is to be appointed as Chris Eyre announced today (May 9) that he is to take a new position as chief of the Sovereign Base Area Policing in Cypress.

As an interim measure Deputy Chief Constable Sue Fish will become temporary Chief Constable from June 23 until the end of the financial year.

Assistant Chief Constable Simon Torr will take over responsibilities as Deputy Chief Constable on June 11, 2016.

Commissioner Paddy Tipping said: "Chris Eyre has been an outstanding Chief Constable for Nottinghamshire. Crime in Nottinghamshire is falling faster than almost anywhere else in the UK and Nottinghamshire Police is the fastest improving police force in England and Wales.

"This is all as a result of Chris's work as Chief Constable over the last six years. I wish him well in his challenging new role.

"I'm delighted that Sue Fish has decided to delay her retirement until March 31, 2017.

"Both Sue and I agree that it's important to have continuity in leadership of the top team. Her decision reflects, once again, her commitment over many years to Nottinghamshire Police. I'm extremely grateful to her.

"Decisions about Simon's replacement as Assistant Chief Constable will be made shortly."

Chief Constable Chris Eyre said: "I am proud of all the officers and staff I have had the privilege of leading during my six years here. Together we have shown that this is one of the finest forces in the country. I have had the pleasure of working with many community leaders and partners during my time here. They have been unfailing generous have helped to make policing and public service in Nottinghamshire what it is today.

"Over the last three and a half years of working with Paddy Tipping I have learned so much. He has been an inspirational leader, mentor and friend to me. I am delighted that the Public of Nottinghamshire has restated their trust in him as Police and Crime Commissioner.

"I wish him well and know that he and his new Chief Officer Team will continue the work we have been doing together."

Paddy Tipping added: "These moves give stability to Nottinghamshire Police in a time of unprecedented change.

"It's vital that we appoint a new Chief Constable for 1 April 2017 who will help us tackle the challenging environment we face."
