Recycle this Christmas

ROTHERHAM Council is urging residents to recycle this Christmas.

The local authority’s recycling team is recommending people put newspapers and magazines, but not wrapping paper, in blue bags, take real Christmas trees to the four household waste recycling centres for free between 9th January to 3rd February, put cardboard in green bins and try to reduce the amount of waste that is wasted.

Last year Rotherham residents recycled 42 per cent of their household waste - a huge 48,000 tonnes of waste diverted from land fill.

The nearest recycling site is at Common Road in North Anston.

Side waste will not be collected if left outside black or green bins and all bin lids should be closed.

Waste containers should be at the kerb side for 7am on the day of collection.
