Provide Education, based at Shireoaks, is visiting more universities than ever before to sign up Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) who want to get straight into paid employment - without waiting for the start of the Autumn term.

The aim is to sign up more graduate teachers to summer term contracts where they can gain valuable work experience to kick-start their careers.

Provide Education works with hundreds of schools across South and West Yorkshire and the East Midlands and has more than 2,000 teachers, teaching assistants and nursery nurses on its books, as well as other non-teaching staff.

Barry Simmons, managing director of Provide Education, said: “Supply teaching can provide valuable experience for many graduates before they take up a permanent post in September, and demand from schools is high during the summer term as they are so busy dealing with exams.

“Schools can really benefit from taking on graduates too - they often tell us they appreciate the fresh ideas and enthusiasm that NQTs bring to the classroom.

“They are a vital part of our supply team and almost half of the NQTs we found work for last year ended up going on to secure permanent jobs, with many others choosing to continue to work in supply and cover posts.”

All new teachers that sign up with Provide Education receive ongoing support and help with applications and interviews, and all essential paperwork and vetting procedures are carried out during a face to face meeting.

Provide Education aims to provide a two-way service that helps schools to fill positions quickly and safely, and supports teachers and other education sector staff to find jobs in the sector that suit them perfectly.
