READER LETTER: Worksop Town FC - Tigers are in need of some better players

Finally the wheels have fallen off and the Tigers' promotion dream is just that, a dream. A season that promised so much after going so close last term, died at Maltby. The Guardian quoted the manager, who said that changes would be made and some players would be upset at not being involved. Apart from Wooley and Nightingale, who were at least trying, in my view the other nine should hang their heads in shame for the heartless and toothless performance they put in. The game play has also got to be questioned. The keeper plays it to the left or right back through the central defenders to the other side and back to the keeper. Not exactly attacking football. It might have worked last season, but several teams have exploited it this season and soft goals have been conceded and points dropped.

At times the midfielder has gone missing and everyone is guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net. The team could have had 30 to 40 more goals which could have won several games and kept the dream alive. I still think Mark Shaw is the right man to take the club forward, but he needs to look at the squad, sort out who isn’t doing it and move them on, and get people in who are winners to mount a proper tilt at the title next season.

Finally, what has happened to the announcement John Mann was going to make in early 2016 regarding sites for a new ground?
