It is the third time the Carlton Road pub, renowned for its love of cask ales, has scooped the accolade in the last eight years.
Tucked away in the old waiting room at Worksop’s train station, the much-loved drinking hole boasts a selection of quality brewed beers consistently rotated.
Proprietor Wayne Cadman said he and the team were delighted with the achievement.
“It is recognition for all the hard work our staff put in, and a testimony to our customers who help to generate the pubs wonderful atmosphere,” he said.
“Camra awards are a little bit special because they are voted largely upon a pubs quality of cask ale.”
“The fact that we have won this accolade three times in the past eight years cements our belief that taking the time and effort to source great quality beers, and serving them in tip top condition, helps to generate good sales and promotes a busy pub.”
The pub is featured in the Good Beer Guide 2012 alongside Worksop’s Shireoaks Inn and Station Hotel, Red Hart in Blyth, White Horse in Barnby Moor and Retford’s Rum Runner and Turks Head.
In nearly 11 years at the pub, Wayne’s passion for real ale is as strong as ever.
“We have stuck to our principles, that cask conditioned real ale is a worthy product to grace our bar,” he said.
“We spend a lot of time sourcing beers from near and far. We are passionate about supporting local breweries and source many beers from North Notts, South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.”
The Mallard has recently struck an agreement to serve beers from Welbeck Abbey Brewery, brewed on the estate itself, throughout 2012.
“We are looking forward to promoting their new brews and Head Brewer - Claire Monk’s various collaborations in the coming months,” he added.
The Mallard recently showcased 16 real ales for its Winter Beer Festival.
It offered a range of beers from one-off festival specials to old favourites and their very own house brews.
