They received three calls in the space of an hour to incidents on embankments between the two stations.

The first was at 3pm when two appliances from Worksop were called out to Albion Close in Worksop, and used a hose-reel jet to extinguish the flames.

While dealing with this incident, a second call was made at 3.19pm to attend an embankment off Osberton Grange Farm.

Crews from Haworth and Warsop tackled around 100 metres of grass that had been torched.

Finally, shortly before 4pm it was reported that 500 metres of grass and fencing had been lit on the railway embankment at Rayton Lane, Worksop.

Trains running between the two stations had to be cancelled while the fires were tackled, but were restored later in the afternoon.
