Rabbi visits school

Rabbi Perez from the Nottingham Synagogue recently visited pupils at Ranby House School to help enhance the understanding of the children in respect of the Jewish Faith.

He gave a talk to Year 8 pupils about the Torah and Kosher food and kindly answered questions raised by the children about the Jewish Faith.

He demonstrated playing the Ram’s Horn which is used in the synagogue to welcome the New Year and showed the children the holy book the Torah.

He also showed the children the Menorah which is used in the home and at Hanukkah.

For each child he wrote their name in Hebrew and presented it to them and then explained how the Hebrew letters and sounds are formed.

A Ranby House spokesman said: “The Year 8 pupils all gained an enormous amount from the visit and thanked Rabbi Perez for giving of his time so generously.”
