Pupils thrilled at new books

PUPILS at an Anston school were overwhelmed after the school received hundreds of new books.

The Parent Teacher Association at Anston Park Infant School hold a variety of events throughout the year which raise funds for the school.

And recently their hard work helped to pay for hundreds of books for the school library and classes.

“We are absolutely thrilled. The children were so excited when we presented them with all the books in assembly,” said headteacher Amanda Tyler.

“Infact some of the PTA members said they had never seen children so excited about books. They were thrilled to bits.”

“The PTA we have got is just fantastic. They are a group of between 10 and 20 volunteers who meet regularly and plan activities and events.”

“Whatever they raise they give to the school. In the past they had bought us a computer and a camera.”

“This time we had £1,700 to buy books - all thanks to the PTA.”

Ms Tyler said staff bought a variety of books for all ages of pupils including ones with fingers puppets for young children and books to motivate boys to read more.

Ms Tyler added: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to the PTA.”

“They are just amazing.”
